The Alchemist

The boy in the Alchemist is confronted by a man that claims to be a king. Then the king offers to help the boy fulfill his destiny, which is to find the treasure in Egypt. At first the boy doesn’t believe him, but then the king tells the boy things about himself that he has never told anyone before. Then the boy offers the king a 10th of his flock of sheep for his help. I am surprised that the boy so willingly jumped at the man’s offer, because even if he told me my secrets I still wouldn’t believe him.

The Alchemist

Another thing that contributed to the idea that the main character does not want his life to be controlled by fate, is when he chose to be a sheep herder instead off a priest. This shows how he doesn’t want to be controlled by fate because his whole life was set up for him to become a priest but he decided to become a sheep herder. He also finds another person that doesn’t like the book that he was reading and I think that they are going to become really good friends.

The Alchemist

After reading more of the alchemist I realized that the main character doesn’t like his life to be controlled by fate. I realized this when the main character went to the fortune teller to tell her about his dream. The fortune teller told him that if he fallowed his dream he would find a great treasure, but he just brushed this idea of because he did not wan to be controlled by his dream. Additionally he is reading a book about how everyone’s life is controlled by fate and decides to switch it for another book.

The Alchemist

After reading Catching Fire I decided to start reading the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I decided to read this because many people have suggested it to me and it looked like a really interesting book. At the beginning of the book I could tell that the boy was from a family that was not well off. Also that he was educated because he was able to read books.

Catching Fire

Towards the end of this book many exciting things have happened. One of them was that the Hunger Games have started and Katnis is constantly trying to fight for her life, and the only thing more important then her life is Petas life. But when Katnis was about to die she was rescued from a bunch of people from district 13. This was really surprising because district 13 was said to be destroyed. Another thing that happened was that Peta was captured by the government and taken hostage. Additionally Katnisis whole district was destroyed in a huge explosion.

Catching Fire

I decided to abandon Angels and Demons because there was a book that I wanted to read a lot more then Angels and Demons. This book was Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and it is the sequel to one of my favorite books called the Hunger Games. The book starts off after Katniss wins the Hunger Games and is in her old district. But Katnis soon finds out that she is not safe and if she does not convince the people of the capital that she really loved Peeta then she would be killed.

Once Langdon agreed to meet these people he went to a site where they would pick him up by plane. This plane was very advance though and could go 11,000mph. When Langdon arrived at the place where the people lived he figured out it was some kind of complex science lab where the best minds are gathered to figure out things. He also learned that a man was murdered in this lab and he was there to interpret the symbol branded in to this man.

The new book that I have started reading is Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, in this book the main character is a religious teacher in Harvard. Also he feels like he is stuck between centuries. So far in the book he has received a fax with the picture of a dead man with some kind of mark branded in to him. He is asked to meet some people in a place he does not know and because he is so afraid of the mark he agrees to meet them. Additionally I could tell that the murderers stole something and are Spanish.

In the end of The Lightning thief by Rick Riordan Percy realized that Hades was not the one who stole the lightning bolt instead it was the god Aries. But he was being controlled by the titan Kronos. But he was able to defeat Aries and obtain the lightning bolt and Hades helmet. He also got his mom back for obtaining the helmet of Hades, and his dads love. But something was still bothering him and it was that his friend Luke betrayed him and tried to kill him and destroy the gods.

Percy has now learned that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. He has also learned that their might be a possible war between Poseidon and Zeus, over Zeus’s lightning bolt. So Percy has been sent on a quest to find the lighting bolt and to stop this war. But Percy’s real reason for going to get the lightning bolt is to save his mom from the underworld. On his quest he meets many monsters that have been sent by Hades to kill him.
So far in The Lightning Thief by Bick Riordan the main character Percy Jackson just had a really strange experience with his teacher named Mrs. Dodds. The strange thing was that she turned in to some kind of monster and attacked him. Then his teacher came and saved him. But when it was over everyone forgot who Mrs. Dobbs was. Also Percy heard his best friend talking with his teacher about him and he knew that they were lying to him.

I decided to abandon the book Sabriel because it was very boring at the beginning and I was not interested in the topic of the story. The new book that I chose was The Lightning Thief; I chose this book because it looked very interesting and I saw the commercial for the movie and liked it. One thing I really like about the book is that at the beginning something exciting happens; this prevents me from abandoning the book. Also I like that it has to do with mythological monsters and things because this topic really interests me.
